AGENDA

We are finalizing our agenda for an action-packed weekend full of information for delegates.

Speaker Sessions and Spotlights: These sessions will be looking at issues impacting Albertans every day. You'll come away from these sessions with an understanding of the challenges and how Alberta's NDP will be working to address them. We will be updating the agenda with more information as speakers and topics are confirmed.

Resolution Debates: These debates are your opportunity to help set policy for Alberta's NDP. Debate in depth during the resolution panels and then see the resolution become policy in the debate sessions.

Please note this schedule is subject to change.

10:15 AM - 11:30 AMShowcase: Building a Better Economic Future

Building A Better Economic Future: Alberta has faced its share of ups and downs on the royalty revenue roller-coaster. Currently, the province is collecting record resource revenue, but Albertans aren't feeling it. We aren't seeing the jobs boom of the past and Albertans continue to struggle to pay the bills as they face an affordability crisis and the slowest wage growth in the country. To make matters worse, the UCP is pushing ahead with reckless legislation that will destroy jobs, destroy investor confidence, and stifle Alberta’s economy.

We need to address our immediate challenges and use the resource revenue boom to secure our economic future. Come hear our plan to create good-paying jobs and build a more resilient economy for future generations.

11:30 AM - 12:30 PMLeader Speech

State of the party? Unified. Hard at work scouring the province, hearing from Albertans about what they want us focussing on.
State of the leader? Great! Ready. Add a coffee, and she’s even better. Sweet of you to ask.
State of the province? As always, the people are solid, the views are stunning, and the possibilities are endless. In this moment: We find ourselves at a crossroads.

Do not miss the Leader’s update on the two paths laid out before Albertans, and our vision for a better future.

There are a wide variety of food outlets near the Hyatt Regency.

The luncheon will include a menu of finger sandwiches, sweet treats, and beverages. If you have dietary requirements, please contact Women’s Caucus at womenscaucus@albertandp.ca

Join us for a delicious lunch and delightful discussion. Following the luncheon, we will take a group photo at the Famous Five statue. Fancy hats and fascinators encouraged.

1:30 PM - 1:45 PMWelcome to Saturday Afternoon & Special Greetings

Welcome back and special messages.

1:45 PM - 2:30 PMShowcase: End the Chaos: Future of Healthcare

The UCP severely damaged Alberta healthcare and pushed it to the brink of collapse. Hundreds of thousands of Albertans no longer have a family doctor, emergency room wait times have risen dramatically and ambulances are being forced to line up for hours outside hospitals, waiting to transfer patients instead of responding to emergencies.

Instead of taking responsibility, the UCP pushed blame on to healthcare workers.

Albertans deserve better. Join three Alberta NDP healthcare workers running as candidates in the next election as we discuss the challenging road ahead, and how we will end the chaos. Let’s give Albertans the healthcare they deserve.

4:45 PM - 6:15 PMRunning a Strong Visibility Campaign

A successful campaign is one that is visible, where voters have a sense of the local candidate, the leader and what they might get by voting for us.  Using a variety of techniques we can run visible campaigns even when we have limited resources and volunteers.  Join Campaigns and Communications Professional Adrienne King and Field Organizer Charlie Mancini to talk about ways to run an exciting, visible and successful campaign, regardless of how you measure success.

4:45 PM - 6:15 PMBuild an Inclusive Community and Campaign

Join Certified Equity and Inclusion Advisor Poushali Mitra and Professional Political Communicator Maureen Mariampillai for an interactive workshop to talk about how we can build more inclusive and diverse communities and campaigns.  We will talk about unconscious biases, how we are impacted by these everyday and what we can do to flip the script, attract more people and have them feel welcome in our organization.

4:45 PM - 6:15 PMVolunteer Leadership for Building a Strong Team

The very best campaigns are those with an energized and fun team.  Employ your leadership skills to build a community of volunteers and friends who work and play together.  Join experienced Campaign Manager Sandra Houston and Field Organizer Karlie Hanoski to talk about how strong volunteer leadership skills on your team will ensure your volunteers are motivated and engaged, and eager to win.
