About the Event

The Alberta Museums Association (AMA) 2022 Conference will explore how the sector is reconsidering the nature of museum work.

In response to events that have occurred over the past few years—both locally and globally— the museum community is reconsidering the nature of museum work, both internally and externally. Historically, museums have addressed societal issues through outward facing efforts like education, public programs, and exhibitions. But museums also have a role to play in advocating for social change within their own sector.

The curated program will examine issues around trust and authority, activism, and social responsibility to create a framework in which museums can see themselves as leaders and advocates for social change.
