This yearly review and forecast by members of the energy sector takes on a heightened importance this year. With political changes in the US foreshadowing a drastically changed North American trade environment, the views of energy industry leaders have an even greater importance in 2025 than in past years.

The Canada Energy Update will take place on the afternoon of 6 February, at the Pan Pacific Hotel, in Vancouver. The event will begin at 12:00 pm PST.

The Energy Council of Canada established the Canadian Energy Person of the Year Award in 2001 to recognize and pay tribute each year to a leader who has made a significant impact within the sector. Nominations are based upon a candidate’s outstanding accomplishments and their positive reputation in the community at large.

Award recipients demonstrate an ability to balance the economic, environmental, and social dimensions of energy development and delivery. Their accomplishments advance the Canadian energy sector nationally and internationally. Members of the energy industries nominate and choose award recipients through the Energy Council of Canada.
