A Caring City walk of Ottawa’s Tunney’s Pasture site

Join the City for All Women Initiative (CAWI) to learn about their vision for transforming Ottawa into a caring city. Tunney's Pasture, a large site in the city centre developed exclusively for Federal government buildings but currently undergoing planning for multi-use redevelopment, provides an ideal location for this purpose. Inspired by a global caring city movement, the walk will allow you to participate in a Community Based Participatory Research Project to evaluate how spaces and places at this location can contribute to care. What does it mean to live in a city that provides for your needs and supports your well-being? How do we rethink urban geography from the perspective of both givers and receivers of care? CAWI's long-standing work advancing civic engagement for women, non-binary and gender non-conforming residents makes them the perfect hosts for this field trip. The walk will take place rain or shine. Appropriate outdoor clothing, good walking shoes, and water bottles are recommended. You will also need to bring fare for the O-Train. Please email meg@cawi-ivtf.org if you require any accommodation to participate.

Berthon, Ruben Komangapik, Tim Pitsiulak, and Emily Carr, among others. Also on view is an impressive selection of objects on temporary loan: among them, stunning works by Indigenous artists.
