This session will focus on the project Ts’ídāne Ā’ Nezen (Youth For Dignity) which is located on unceded Kaska territory in Watson Lake, Yukon. Youth for Dignity is a program with Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth in grades 8-12 and focuses on gendered violence, activism, and Kaska culture, using a Response Based/Dignity driven lens. Supported by Kaska elders and the facilitators, youth learn about different social justice topics, with a focus on the issue of Murdered and Missing Indigenous women, girls, trans, and two-spirit people, and plan actions, events, and art pieces that address these topics. In this session, youth, elders, and the program facilitators will share what the program is about, and the many projects the youth have organized and created over the years, as well as how different Response Based Practice ideas are incorporated into the curriculum.
