Dr. Mahmoud Abd El-Gelil works as a Geodetic Engineer at
Canadian Geodetic Survey. Before coming to Canada in September 2001, he finished
his undergraduate degree and first master’s degree in Engineering in Egypt. In
2001, he started his second master’s degree of applied science at Ryerson
University followed by a doctorate degree at York University. In his PhD
research, he focused on the superconducting gravity data and Earth geodynamics.
Mahmoud occupied different Geomatics research and academic positions at
different universities. He worked at Ryerson University as a post-doctoral
fellow and Cape Town University in South Africa as a Senior Lecturer in
the Geomatics Division. Mahmoud returned to Canada in 2021 to join the Canadian
Geodetic Survey after spending nine yeas as an assistant professor at Sultan
Qaboos University in Sultanate of Oman.
