Who can attend convention?

  • Alberta NDP Convention 2025 will be the largest progressive gathering in Alberta’s history. All members in good standing are eligible to register for convention and become delegates. If you haven’t renewed your membership for 2025, you can do so before you register at https://www.albertandp.ca/join
    • Most delegates will register as regular members representing their Constituency Association. If you are not in touch with your Constituency Association, that’s okay. Register as a Constituency Delegate and the party will connect you with your Constituency Association. 
    • All Alberta NDP members in good standing are eligible to become delegates 
    • Members can become delegates through party bodies like the provincial executive, constituency associations or caucuses
    • Constituency associations are allotted 6 delegates for their first 50 members and six more for every subsequent 50 members or major portion thereof (Ex. An association with 150 members receives 18 delegate slots, an association with 95 members receives12 delegate slots)
    • Party office will work with associations and other party bodies to ensure everyone who registers for convention receives a delegate credential 
    • Party caucuses (ex. Women’s Caucus, Race Equity Caucus etc.) are allotted 15 delegates each 
    • Elected Officials must register to attend, but they are credentialed individually. They do not take up a “delegate slot” for their constituency. 

What is convention?

  • Convention is the largest progressive gathering in Alberta. Delegates will debate and vote on policy. Delegates will vote for a new Party Executive. Delegates will hear reports from the Party’s senior officials. The Convention will also feature speakers from across Alberta, Canada, and the world about how we can organize to win the next election. The weekend will also feature fundraisers and social events that delegates can attend: https://www.albertandp.ca/events

Is there a registration fee?

  • There will be a registration fee to attend convention to help cover costs.  If the fee is a barrier for you please let us know at info@albertandp.ca.

Accessibility:

  • At Convention 2025, we are committed to creating a fully accessible and inclusive experience for all attendees. We are pleased to provide ASL interpreters and closed captioning in all plenary spaces to ensure everyone can fully engage in the discussions and events.
  • The Edmonton Convention Centre is a fully accessible venue, designed to accommodate individuals with diverse mobility needs. In addition, we will have a quiet room available for all attendees who may need a space to recharge during the convention.
  • If you have other accessibility requirements or specific needs, please let us know on your registration form. Our team is dedicated to supporting you and ensuring your experience at Convention 2025 is positive and welcoming.

Child Care:

  • Child care will be offered the following dates and times:
    • Friday, May 2: 11:00am - 7:00pm
    • Saturday, May 3: 8:00am - 6:15pm
    • Sunday, May 4: 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Child care spaces will be limited based on the ratio of care givers and children, be sure to bring all necessary supplies (diapers, wipes, etc).
