Planting Seeds, Growing Leaders

Join us Saturday, March 18, from 8:45 AM to 12:30 PM as we welcome Shannon Beauchamp. In this interactive session, Shannon will offer a cultural safety and humility approach to building relationships and making safe spaces for our patients.

Cultural Safety and Humility: Change Starts with Me

Note: Some parts of this presentation may be difficult to hear and accept. Please ensure you are ready to practice self-care, to love yourself and, please, reach out if you need support in facing these hard truths. You will find links to support lines in Wellness Resources in the menu above. They will also be shared before and after the session.

Share this journey with us as Shannon leads us in an interactive session including:
•    relational practice
•    understanding cultural safety and humility
•    activating cultural safety through kindness
•    acknowledging uncomfortable truths
•    optimism for the future
•    a personal call to action

You will learn why it’s important to develop a safe space for our patients to receive oral health care. Shannon will show us that we build relationships with our patients by showing kindness and understanding.

This session will build on what we learned last year about:
•    ensuring our patients feel seen and heard
•    acknowledging that our patients’ experience is their reality
•    recognizing that trauma doesn’t always show when our patient arrives, but the dental setting may trigger a traumatic response

You will receive some pre-work to prepare for this presentation. More importantly, you will receive tools and materials to take away as you activate your personal call to action and be the change only you can be.
