H7. Words that Flow: A Writing Workshop Tailored for Early Career Success
Effective communication skills are important for all sectors and are fundamental to a successful career in hydrology. Writing and communication skills are achieved through practice and revision. Unfortunately, students and young professionals often have limited opportunities to practice these skills in a low-stakes setting where they can gain feedback without risk of manuscript or job application rejection.
This workshop will help students and young professionals avoid dry writing by providing tips on how to make their scientific (abstract) and professional (resume/CV) writing flow. Attendees will have the opportunity to put these tips into practice by exchanging written feedback with their peers and engaging in discussions with experts. Attendees are encouraged to bring a piece of writing (abstract) and their resume/CV, whether in early draft or final stages, to apply what they learn and get feedback from their peers.
