EDI. Hidden Figures and EDI in the Geosciences

Geoscience is a wide-ranging discipline that comes with a unique set of challenges to building diverse and inclusive communities. This session invites presentations that advance the topic of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity (EDI) as it relates primarily to Black, Indigenous and Persons of Colour (BIPOC) students and researchers in any of CGU sections (Biogeosciences, Geodesy, Hydrology, Solid Earth). This session will focus on barriers to inclusion and representation and highlight solutions and strategies that promote EDI in geoscience research, teaching, and outreach. We welcome submissions related to: assessments of the obstacles faced by marginalized and underrepresented groups; data related to professional or student underrepresentation; research and teaching pedagogies; evidence or experiences of systemic barriers to inclusion; and novel strategies to identify and overcome these barriers and obstacles. Please identify early-career researchers in your abstract as we will give priority to their voices.
