Speaker Bio
Ruby Barclay is a Child and Youth Critical Injury and Death Investigator who lives and works on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Qayqayt Nations. Ruby holds a bachelor’s degree in Child and Youth Care with a Specialization in Child Protection and recently completed a certificate in Response Based Practice (2022). Ruby has worked alongside children, youth, families, and communities who share a lived experience of the child welfare, and intersecting systems. Ruby is committed to upholding the dignity of children and youth and honouring their resistance. She does this by being witness to their stories and working from an ethical framework to reveal systemic violence through a social justice perspective.
