Name
Hard coal combustion through chemical looping using iron spinel-based materials
Description

Chemical looping combustion technology where oxygen required for the fuel combustion is provided by an oxygen carrier (OC) seems to be one of the most promising options, currently. In this power generation process the pure stream of sequestration ready CO2 is produced, and additionally NOx emissions are reduced meaningfully. In this work, family of iron spinel- based oxygen carriers is used for the selected coal combustion. Evaluation of the OCs’ reactivity toward fuel was carried out with an application of thermogravi-metric analyser coupled with a quadrupole mass spectrometer (TGA-QMS). The X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) proved their good regeneration ability and potential to be reused. Also, FTIR and XRD analysis focused deeply on their structural properties.
