Name
Long Electrodes in the Electrical Resistivity Method

Description
Most analyses of the electrical resistivity method approximate electrodes as point current sources and point voltage measurements. If the depth of burial of an electrode is similar to the spacing between electrodes, this approximation may not be valid. In this contribution, I will present analytical expressions for mutual resistance, geometrical factor, sensitivity and pseudodepth for electrodes modeled as line current sources. I will demonstrate that depth soundings and pseudosections calculated using these expressions are free of artifacts that are seen when using the point approximation.
