Description
The Groundwater Project (GW-Project), a Canadian NGO (http://www.gw-project.org), aims to make groundwater understandable by creating and publishing educational books and training materials on a wide range of topics in multiple languages—building a global, virtual learning platform accessible to all. Unique in its scope and volunteer-driven framework, the GW-Project offers a comprehensive repository of credible knowledge in groundwater science (hydrogeology), a discipline critical for freshwater decisions amid the growing global water crisis. The GW-Project promotes awareness and education for diverse audiences: children, students, the public, professionals, and anyone interested in sustainable groundwater management. It provides specialized knowledge on groundwater and its intersections with other disciplines. To date, the GW-Project has published 64 original books and 35 republications, with more in progress. These resources emphasize spatial thinking and conceptualization of processes, problems, and solutions through original figures and diagrams—essential for visualizing groundwater, which is hidden from view.
Beyond books, the GW-Project seeks partnerships and innovative approaches to deliver training and tools that help emerging and experienced professionals develop critical thinking and decision-making skills. These efforts aim to address complex, multidisciplinary groundwater challenges and contribute to solutions for the global water crisis.
