Armagan Kaykun earned his Bachelor's Degree in 2007 in geological engineering at the Ankara University. Following his completion of Master's at the Colorado School of Mines in 2013 in the area of sequence stratigraphy, he started working for the Turkish Petroleum Corporation. During his employment there, he worked mostly in the Unconventional Resources Department, assessing the light shale oil and shale gas potential of different basin settings in Turkey. In 2020, he started the PhD program at the University of Toronto focusing on geodynamics. Currently, he is working on a project to understand the back arc rifting and subsequent compressional tectonic processes that formed and shaped the Black Sea Basin.
