Name
H6 River Ice Session Three: Numerical Modelling of Ice-Affected Rivers
Description
Preface:
Numerical modelling of complex river ice processes is an essential too for engineers and scientists who deal with forecasting, mitigating, and understanding the wide range of impacts that river ice has on rivers of all sizes. This session will provide participants with a glimpse of the many different numerical modelling techniques – from empirically-based models and statistical techniques to large-scale flood mapping and cutting-edge artificial intelligence methods.
Topics:
• Ice-Induced Flooding and Flood Mapping
• Numerical Modelling of Freeze-up, Breakup, and Aufeis
• River Ice and Artificial Intelligence
• Case studies of 1 and 2D modelling efforts
