Recent studies have highlighted the persistent lack of diversity in geosciences, as well as the profound impacts of colonialism, racism, sexism, ableism and unconscious bias. These systemic barriers have silenced diverse voices, limited perspectives, and slowed scientific innovation. Achieving excellence in geosciences requires confronting and dismantling these inequities within academic, research, and professional environments. This session seeks to address these challenges by creating a platform to explore ways of fostering a more inclusive geoscience community across Canada. We welcome contributions from students, early-career researchers, and established professionals across the CGU membership. Abstracts may focus on lived experiences, strategies for building trust, which is the cornerstone of inclusive communities, or on practical approaches for advancing equity and inclusion. We also welcome data-driven studies, institutional initiatives, community-based projects, and innovative teaching or mentorship models that advance EDI. Recognizing that diverse talent strengthens both the quality and sustainability of geoscience research and education, we further encourage submissions that share best practices for attracting, supporting, integrating, and retaining underrepresented voices in the geosciences.
