We propose a plenary session focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the geosciences. The plenary will feature a roundtable-style discussion on EDI topics of broad relevance to geoscientists across career stages, followed by an open forum for members to exchange perspectives and identify next steps for advancing EDI within CGU. Potential themes for the invited speakers include best practices in equitable hiring, fostering inclusive field-work and teaching environments, building effective mentorship, and addressing and mitigating unconscious bias.
