The bi-annual Suzanne Mackenzie Memorial Lecture, hosted by the Feminist Intersectional Solidarity Group (FIGS) of the CAG
Plenary event at CAG 2025, Carleton University
22 May 2025, 4:30-5:30 PM, followed by a reception
Abstract: This panel brings together feminist geographers across generations to reflect on the genealogies, present tensions, and possible futures of feminist geography in the context of today’s shifting academic, political, and environmental landscapes. At a time marked by turmoil and dynamism—in universities, social movements, and planetary systems—this conversation offers a space to engage with the enduring and evolving challenges and contributions of feminist geographic thought and practice.
Panelists will engage key questions around institutional change, diversity, climate and environmental justice, cross-border concerns between Canada and the U.S., and the future of feminist geographical knowledge in unsettled times. We welcome attendees to participate actively in the discussion and help us think critically and generously about the role of feminist geography in navigating the present and shaping the future.
