Overture Maps is a collaborative open-data initiative uniting software developers, data experts, cartographic engineers, and product managers from numerous Overture Maps Foundation member companies. Since launching in December 2022, Overture has worked toward a shared vision of creating reliable, user-friendly, and interoperable open map data to support both current and future mapping needs. By developing a common schema, robust datasets, a scalable platform, and a system of unique, stable IDs known as GERS, Overture ensures accurate and regularly updated global datasets. Member companies contribute data and engineering expertise, enabling the integration of multiple sources and fostering cross-company collaboration to achieve results beyond the reach of any single organization.
