Name
Creating an urban activity atlas for 300 North American cities
Date & Time
Wednesday, May 21, 2025, 3:15 PM - 3:25 PM
Description
Which neighbourhoods in cities are the most popular? Which do people visit the most? To explore these questions, we’ve created an interactive map showing which places people visit or spend time in the 300 largest metropolitan regions (by population) in the US and Canada, derived from a big dataset of mobile phone data. The maps can be used to explore patterns of human activity and visitation within urban regions. Understanding these patterns can be super useful for thinking about mobility, economic activity, and development in urban areas. As such, we are also adding to our interactive map additional related urban datasets to layer and compare with activity patterns.
