2025 is the 50th anniversary of the CCA and 61st year of Canadian Cartographer / Cartographica. In honour of these occasions, this presentation will showcase a cornucopia of interesting and visually sumptuous maps, produced by mostly Canadians with mainly Canadian themes published for the most part in Cartographica circa 1975 onwards with the occasional sprinkle of maps from the 1960s. Since this is a joint conference and CAG's 75th anniversary, maps from a few other Canadian publications (namely Canadian Geographies) will be included. While the early advent of computer mapping was in the 1950s and 1960s, it was during the 1970s that computer assisted mapping became more widely adopted. Some of these maps, cutting edge at the time, will also be included. Cartography and mapping have always evolved and this presentation will also highlight some hand drawn maps. In addition, Canadian cartographers and mapmakers will be remembered and honoured.
