This session will explore the intersections of environmental governance, justice, and sustainability through case studies from around the world. Presenters will share research on how ecological health, community resilience, and local livelihoods are being shaped by both formal policies and grassroots efforts. Topics will include lagoon governance in India, sustainability challenges in Vietnam's rubber sector, municipal perspectives on policy discontinuation in Brazil, potential for community-led environmental assessment in the Himalayas, and the influence of science on Nova Scotia’s old-growth forest policy. Together, these papers will provide rich insights into the complexities and power dynamics of environmental governance in diverse socio-political contexts.
