Date & Time
Friday, May 23, 2025, 9:30 AM - 9:45 AM
Description
The increasing influence of humans on the earth and atmosphere has aroused concerns regarding the separation of human from nature in the last few decades and have attracted significant scientific researches in order to enhance awareness and also to find solutions for reconnection human society to the nature. The purpose of this research with such an approach is to study the Geoparks, and to explain their role in reconnecting human and nature, and preserving geological heritage. The research method is descriptive and analytical study. To do this, a study on existing literatures is adopted to carry a library and document based research. According UNESCO, UNESCO Global Geoparks are single, unified geographical areas, managed with a holistic concept of protection, education and sustainable development. The noteworthy point here is that the purpose of a UNESCO Global Geopark is to explore, develop and celebrate the links between a geological heritage and all other aspects of the area’s natural, cultural and intangible heritage. It is not only about geology, but about reconnecting human society at all levels to the planet that has shaped every aspect of our lives and our societies. According to the above approach, Geoparks by creating and spreading awareness about the geological heritage and the importance of preserving it, creating a dialogue between the knowledge of geosciences and people including local people and tourists, developing the economic capabilities of local people, can play an effective role in reconnecting man and nature.
