Stefan is the President and CEO of CAREERS: the Next Generation. Prior to this role, he was the COO and
Director of Operations. Before joining CAREERS, Stefan was a global director with an international
engineering and consulting firm and lived and worked in several countries. He started his career as an
environmental consultant before moving into various operational and international leadership roles.
Stefan recently was a member of the College of School Superintendents supported Trades and
Vocational Education (TAVE) Committee and was formerly part of Alberta Education’s Career Education
Task Force. He sits on the board of enCompass (formerly John Howard Society) and is also a member of
the University of Alberta’s Frank Robinson Youth Academy Advisory Committee. He holds a Master’s
degree in Environmental Geography from Philipps-University Marburg, Germany, and a Master’s degree
in Responsibility and Business Practice from the School of Management, University of Bath, UK. He lives
in Edmonton with his wife, Lydia, and their two dogs, Frasier and Picard. Their two adult sons, Etienne
and Zayd, are pursuing a degree in International Relations and are working as a teacher, respectively.
