Established in 1996, AEDARSA is the provincial organization responsible for ensuring elevating devices, amusement rides, and passenger ropeways in Alberta comply with safety codes and regulations. Working with Alberta Municipal Affairs and the Safety Codes Council, AEDARSA provides technical guidance, reviews plans, conducts inspections for new construction and altered installations, investigates accidents, and provides education on applicable codes and standards. AEDARSA also performs In-service Safety Inspections to verify compliance with the Safety Codes Act to validate the Permit of Operation.
