Speaker Bio
Vera Cheng (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist, Consultant and founder of Talk Therapy with Vera. Vera identifies as a 1.5-generation Chinese Canadian and has openly shared the obstacles she has overcome in life that allowed her to accept and challenge herself. These experiences have allowed her to cultivate herself as a therapist and support individuals who have had similar challenges.

Vera has over 15 years of clinical experience working in community and medical settings with a diverse population ranging from teens to seniors. She collaborates and empathizes with individuals to help bolster their self-awareness to make positive and goal-directed changes in their life. It enables them to feel empowered, recognizes their strengths, and establishes a greater sense of self-compassion.

In 2021, Vera started the Stop Asian Hate mask initiative with the collaboration of BIPOC artist Nadia Lloyd after the Atlanta spa shooting because she wanted to speak up and create awareness of the significant rise in Anti-Asian sentiment. In addition, she donates part of mask sales proceeds to Butterfly (Asian and Migrants Sex Workers Support Network).
